There’s a popular teaching in spiritual circles that what you believe about yourself on the inside is what you will manifest on the outside. While there is SOME truth to this, it is absolutely NOT an absolute Truth.
Most of my life I believed I was unlovable. Yet when I look back, I see that I have been loved my entire life. Now… it is true that I created the FEELING of loneliness, but the reality is that I was never alone.
Most of my adult life, I believed I was poor. Yet somehow I almost ALWAYS had the money to pay rent, bills and eat. Even when I found myself “homeless”, I still was able to secure shelter until … Read the rest
Can you handle the Truth? Better ask yourself and be honest before you read this. If you can’t, then walk away and DO NOT READ THIS. If you think you can handle it, then by all means, read on.
Even though we humans like to consider ourselves superior, we are animals. I don’t mean figuratively in that we sometime “act” like animals. We are, in a very real, medical, physical, actual way, animals. Even though we are at the top of the food chain, we are still animals.
As it happens, we are animals with the capacity to think, calculate, investigate, figure out, invent and expand our minds in ways that all the other animals on the planet cannot. And … Read the rest
Have you ever noticed that hanging out with certain “new-age spiritual” people is a lot like hanging out with certain people from church or temple? There’s an attitude of “my way is the RIGHT way” and everyone else is misguided if not downright Wrong (with a capital J).
I was brought up sort of Jewish. My bar mitzvah was one of the most emotionally harrowing experiences of my life as I was pushed to choose sides between my mother and father on what was supposed to be the most important religious and personal day of my life. A year later, as I sat in temple for my best friend’s bat mitzvah, I watched her relatives and friends disrespect her (and … Read the rest
Everything is perfect. Or is it?
Everything happens in perfect timing. Or does it?
In the “spiritual” world we talk about perfection a lot. We use the word “perfect” to describe all situations in a way of telling ourselves that God/Universe/All-that-is knows better than we do and even if we don’t understand the Divine Plan we know that it’s perfect anyway.
But when we talk about perfection we are talking about something that has no flaws. Sorry to break the news to you, but EVERYTHING has flaws.
We can still say that the flaws are perfect, but let’s get real for a minute. If perfect is perfect then there are no flaws.
We can say that something is perfect for … Read the rest
We all know that 2+2=4. So when you go the store and purchase 2 items that cost $2 each you remember that (or do the math in your head in the moment, cuz that’s how you roll) and you don’t pay $5 for it (assuming the tax isn’t 25%).
Knowledge doesn’t mean a whole lot if you don’t apply it.
- You KNOW that meditation makes you feel better, but you don’t do it every day.
- You KNOW that when someone insults you it says nothing about you, but you get insulted anyway.
- You KNOW that we are all one, but you feel isolated and alone.
- You KNOW that resistance is futile, but you resist, argue, hide, and push anyway.

I used to be soooo angry. It’s one of the side effects of having a victim mentality. And it’s a hard habit to break. It makes you feel powerful (or least pretend power). It makes you feel like you are DOING something (even though you really aren’t).
The last few weeks I’ve had plenty of opportunities to be angry about my circumstances. My motorcycle that I waited 35 years for isn’t running and the mechanic is backed up 3 to 4 weeks before he can see me. I lost a long-time client from my web business. I’m sleeping even less than normal.
The last two days offered even more anger opportunities as the decisions of managers and other employees at … Read the rest
